What are the risk factors for the development of sinusitis?
The risk factors for sinusitis are the causes an imbalance of Kapha, Vata and/or Pitta forces.
Kapha imbalance leads to too much water. The Kapha can become unbalanced when we:
- Eat excessive amounts of sweet foods
- Eat or drink foods and drink containing excessive amounts of salt and water
Vata imbalance leads to too much wind in the body. The Vata can become imbalanced when we:
- Eat too frequently
- Experience fear or grief
- Go to sleep late at night
Pitta imbalance results in too much heat. This can happen when we:
- eat excessive sour or spicy foods
- spend too much time in the heat or the sun
It is important to note that some people are born with excess mucus in the body, whereas others develop this condition over time.
